She's the creative mind behind Innovative Sugar Works' Sugar Shapers. Has competed on Food Network Challenge a record 6 times and won 5 of those competitions!!
Known for her awe inspiring, gravity defying cakes, and super fun classes, that teach both the novice and advanced decorator, how to think creatively, structure properly, and create amazing cakes for years to come!

Super Fun Cake Decorating, and Edible Art Classes are offered by our Resident Sugar Artist, and Winner of Food Network's Cake Wars Nathalie Sorensen. We offer private, semi private, and group classes, as well our super popular, Mommy and Me classes.

Cake business consultations are offered both in person here in San Diego, CA or via virtual conference.

The Night Owl Master Class by Kaysie Lackey, is an excellent introduction into the world of modeling chocolate and armatures to make vivid, gravity defying characters. This class is taught in REAL CAKE!!!

In this 2 full days class learn:

Benedict The Bull Cake by Kaysie Lackey

In this Master Cake Class, Kaysie will teach us:


- Modeling Chocolate and fondant mixing ratios. 

- Freehand modeling.

- Gravity Defying Structure, all taught in REAL CAKE

- Carving cake into unique shapes so most of your creation is servable cake.

- Bringing your character to life

-Wet/Dry various painting techniques that will come in handy for any creation.

Class Policies

By enrolling/making payment on any of our classes, you confirm that you have read and agree to all our class policies as follows;

Your payment in full or installments secures your spot in our class, and as such ANY and ALL payments are non-refundable or transferrable to any other class.

Students opting to pay in installments are committing to paying full class tuition, all payments must be received no later than the dates indicated. Failure to make payments in full will result in forfeiting your spot in class, and installments are non-refundable.

Students must all agree to arrive on time for class schedule, and understand that class will not be held for late arrivals.

All supplies and tools will be provided. Lunch as well as cookie snack and drinks will be provided. If you have any dietary restrictions, please feel free to being your own lunch.

During class, we ask that you turn your cell phones off or completely silence them (not on vibrate) out of respect to others in class.

There are times where you might be able to take photos, but at no time are students permitted to take or post step by step photos and post them anywhere in order to protect the Instructors intellectual property and techniques, as well as preserve the value of the class you have paid to attend.

Out of town Students

THIS IS A REAL CAKE CLASS, please make your travel plans accordingly if you plan to travel with your project, ship it, as well as preserve  it for display purposes. Past students have had no issues with these projects and have safely shipping even overseas.

We have a room block at a great rate ($TBD/Night), Room Block and special rate available under Lucy Cake Design Class.

Cancellations

If for any unfortunate reason a student isn’t able to attend class after registration. We are not able to issue any refunds, that student can secure a substitute to attend in their stead, but must notify us with this change by email to info@lucycakedesign.com 619.363.2115 and please provide the substitute student’s contact information.In the case of natural disaster, severe weather, loss of close family or any other substantial and unavoidable reason, either Instructor or Lucy Cake Design are forced to cancel scheduled class date. Every effort will be made to reschedule said class. If the new date or time contradicts certain students’ schedules and are unable to attend due to this change, a full refund will be issued to those students. Neither Instructor nor Lucy Cake Design are responsible for any travel expenses or arrangements due to those changes, nor are either liable to reimburse any students for those costs. Each and Every Class and Instructor hosted by Lucy Cake Design has been hand selected as the elite in our industry and at the top of their craft. Alongside them we work tirelessly to ensure that our valued students walk away from our classes with a widened and enriched technique and knowledge base, and have a wonderful experience.
